Vivek - Tamil Comedy Clip - Palayathamman

Vivek's entire comedy sequence from the tamil movie Palayathamman. This happens to be one of Vivek's all time best comedy performances that went unnoticed because of the movie not being able to make it big! Enjoy!!! - Karthik (Originally posted by Vinod Kumar)

Do Deeds Match Words? - Swami explains by an example

It is really funny how some people freely use the word "Guru" "Jnana" "Conscience" without knowing the true meaning of it. Obviously, many try to use these words mainly to preach & not follow for themselves.

Why should one talk about conscience if he/she doesn't know the complete meaning of the word? It's really sad cos these words are used for mere pomp & show...

Only a very few can distinguish Aathma (conscience) from the Mind and that's why swami clearly says "Mind is a Mad Monkey".

Man is bound by the mind and the senses. In the pursuit of the spiritual path, first of all the mindshould be brought under control. When the mind is steady, you reach the state of Super-Mind. Inthis state there is no room for physical or transient worldly feelings. As long as the mind is pure,no evil can enter the heart. When it is polluted with bad feelings," there is room for evil thoughts to breed.

When this Self is within you, where is the need to search for someone to teach you? A teacher who teaches others has had a teacher himself. The one who has no guru above him is the true guru. The Sanskrit stanza that hails the guru as Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheswara and as the Highest God (Parabrahman) is misinterpreted. The right approach is to consider Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheswara as the guru. These three are symbolised by the three qualities (gunas) Brahma is activity (rajas), Vishnu is serenity (sathva) and Siva is inertia ( thamas). The whole cosmos is constituted by these three qualities. The three three are present in man. The trinity are present in the form of the three qualities in every human heart. - swami

The term "guru" means one who dispels the darkness of ignorance. "Gu"means one who is beyond attributes (gunas), "ru" implies one who is beyond forms (rupas). This refers only to God. That is why the guru is hailed as Brahma, Vishnu, or Siva. Only God is the true guru. All others are merely teachers, like the teachers of different subjects in a college. "Guru" is the one who reveals the guri (target) to the disciple. "Guri" here refers to the Aathmic Principle.

Some follow their conscience & accept their conscience as their true guru.

In reality, conscience merely becomes a witness to what they do to others and to themselves.
How can one talk about "guru" if they
a. disobey their parents (matha, pita)
b. drift from the path of dharma (adultery...& so on)
c. don't know the meaning of the word "truth"

Truth in the world is Gurutwa. Observe truth with steady feelings and with a selfless heart. That truth is your protection. That truth is your armour. Truth will follow you and protect you. There is no dharma higher than Truth (Satyam naasti paramo dharma). If you protect dharma, that dharma will in turn protect you (Dharmo rakshati rakshithaha). Do not waver by this agitation. Keep your truth as your aim. Fill your heart with sanctity. Love every one. Do not hate anyone. Then only will true divinity originate in you. - swami

"Well, If you have done your Masters in Biochemistry.. I did mine in Botany"

Hmm, I am now considered a Senior Software Engineer in EMC ;-), but its really funny, cos I didn't do my engineering in Computer Science. My first job interview in chennai was really funny.

hmm I will continue this story..

I completed my Masters in Biological sciences from loyola & started to pursue my dream job - a researcher in a top ranking institute (IISC, TIFR) A master's from loyola was good enough to pursue research in entomology labs, but it wasnt good enough for biotech research labs. Adding to my ill-luck, the same year, the goverment came up with a new rule that "Students are eligible for a research fellowship only if they clear the CSIR Examination". No one in our batch had any clue on what the exam would be, and what would be required to pass the exam.

In parallel, my father signed up for the "golden handshake" - where one gets a lot of money in exchange for an early retirement plan(from State Bank Of India) My father always believed that a bank job carried a lot of benefits and he always wanted me to take up his position, eventhough the bank would only offer me a "cashier" position to begin with. For some odd reason, he thought that doing research was just a waste of time. ;-)

Well, in life, some lessons are learnt in a bitter way ;-) i wrote the CSIR examination 3 times, and every time the results came, i felt like i was searching a winning lottery ticket number in a paper. Inasmuch as i was headstrong to be a "researcher", I missed the Bank job and found myself at the mercy of cancer department(chennai) for an aid to continue my Ph.d.

I wanted to be more "independent" and so i decided to even try a marketing job in the evening hours. oh. this was really tough because you have to go door-to-door or office-to-office to market ANZ grindlays bank credit card. It was a time in chennai when no one really wanted to pay interest for credit cards ;-) and so it was very difficult to convince customers. So in order to get a Rs 3500/month salary, one has to complete 3 or 4 applications per day (which comes to around 63 applications - assuming 21 working days)

My father passed away on the month of december, and it became increasingly stressful cos we had to move back to a different location. hmm more bad news was just waiting..

i will be back to continue..(as usual)
